Tyler Brett
Tyler Brett
Tyler Brett (he/they) is a multidisciplinary artist and paramedic whose work explores the intersection of conceptual futures and alternatve community-building. Through speculative architecture, digital ecologies, and kinetic sculpture, Brett reconfigures public and digital spaces as hubs for cooperative practice and spontaneous discovery. By approaching formal systems with humor and critical inquiry, he creates space for new forms of self-expression and collaboration. Now based on Malcolm Island, BC, Brett co-directs the Sointula Art Shed alongside Kerri Reid.

Sointula Forever
Sointula Forever revisits the island’s historic utopian aspirations through a shifting video feedback loop. This "hall of mirrors" effect—created by a transfer station salvaged 1970s colour TV and a Hi-8 video camera—generates a field of light where the image is captured and reflected in a dream-like memory.
At the center of this analog video feed is a wooden cutout of Malcolm Island, originally crafted by good neighbour Barb. It serves as the anchor for chromatic color bursts, diffusing into oversaturated blues, greens, and reds or pastel yellow/greens, blues & pinks depending on the time of day and available ambient light. The installation leans into the 80s, connecting the local comfort of gas bar rotisserie hot-dogs to low-resolution scan lines and "Sointula engineering"—where the infinite loop is propped up by a recycled turntable, a cake pan, log rounds, a scrap cabinet, and a broken fridge. The title is meant to carry a sense of lifelong commitment to the island, not unlike a permanent forearm tattoo, proclaiming Sointula as a beautiful, persistent dream of perpetual renewal and harmony.
When: April 1st - 7th. Viewable from the sidewalk in front of the Sointula Art Shed until the lights go out at 10:00 PM.

Kasko Frame Works is generously hosting Doing&Doing Fine Art, supporting its mission to promote creative expression as essential to cultural health. In our experimental model, works by participating artists will rotate through Kasko Gallery @kasko_gallery , located at the front of the framing shop. Some artists’ displays will open with public exhibitions, while others will be promoted online only.
Kasko Frame Works plays an integral role in Vancouver’s art community, serving collectors, casual buyers, galleries, museums, and art fairs. 65% of artwork sales go to the artists. Anna and Dan share the remaining proceeds: Anna donates her share to local causes, while Dan reinvests his into Doing&Doing’s mission.
As practicing artists themselves, Anna and Dan are committed to meeting artists wherever they’re at— both creatively and personally.
We’re excited to support one another and help foster creative culture in Vancouver.
