SOINTULA ART SHED 2013 - PRESENT
The Sointula Art Shed is a small artist residency run by Kerri Reid and Tyler Brett, based in a cottage and repurposed work shed overlooking the Broughton Strait located in the unceded territories of the Namgis, Mamalilikala and Kwakiutl Nations. The residency is open for submission in January of each year. Please visit the website for submission guidelines and the downloadable application form. Applications are being accepted for 2025 from January 1 - February 15th, 2024.
The village of Sointula was founded in 1901 by a group of Finnish socialist utopian settlers, who gave it the name Sointula, meaning "place of the chord" or "place of harmony".
